» ThatCrazyCatLady - Articles on Breeding Cats and Raising Kittens

I haven't found a good way to create an index that includes links to ALL the articles on breeding and raising kittens, so I thought I would put them here in some type of order that is easy to follow happy

Please do feel free to post any questions you might have!

Choosing the right cat breed is the first step in creating a successful cattery!

Here are all the articles I have so far on the different feline breeds.

Understanding cat-related terminology is a very important part of breeding!

You should also know as much as you can about cat care, including illnesses like FIP, Feline Leukemia, and Feline AIDS.

» ThatCrazyCatLady - Be an Expert in Your Field

If you decide to become a cat breeder, you are responsible not only to every kitten you bring into the world, but also to the families that adopt them. You need to be able to counsel your adoptive kitten parents on everything they'll need to know about raising their new kitten, from registration to how to get rid of fleas.

Your clients might require shipping. Do they feel safe buying a kitten from you over the internet?

Your clients will ask questions about cat litter and cat food.

» ThatCrazyCatLady - Decisions You'll Make as a Cat Breeder

There are many decisions to make every day in your cattery...

Will you require a spay/neuter contract?

What is your stand on inbreeding and line breeding?

Do you plan to be a cageless cattery? What type of socialization will you provide for your kittens?

The list goes on and on with all the things you need to know before deciding to breed your cat. It is a BIG decision! But as I've said, if you are going to do it, be the very best at it that you possibly can be!

I'll add to this compilation as we cover this subject more in depth!
