» frankenstein11 - Food Question

So i have a four month old tabby, i don't know so much about cats so when i went to the store I bought what looked to be the best to my knowledge. I ended up with Purina One Kitten food. sorta small bag. Like 8 bucks or whatever It has lasted a while and isn't empty yet after two weeks so I'm happy. My question: should I keep going with this food, or switch to the Purina Pro Plan food which says kittens thrive on at http://cats.suite101.com/article.cfm/cat...
and seems to be even cheaper.
Also, in my life I have never smelled anything so foul as a room with a recently relieved 4 month old kitten exiting it.

thanks,
frankenstein

Hello! Well, changing foods is a biggie for a 4 month old kitten. BUT if you're changing UP, and within brands, there's usually no problem. I'd probably still mix 1/2 and 1/2 while you've got a little of the first food left if I were going to switch.

Now the comparison... both are good foods, with the Pro Plan being just a little bit better than the Purina One. If you don't mind the little bit of price difference and can find it locally, then go for it!

hehehe Stinky kittens - the stuff of life! happy That's why the come running out of the litter box, we think! What kind of kitty litter are you using?

» lindyflood - wart or lump

Hi Darlene,

I know you are busy with your newest family additions but when you get the chance, I have a question. Polly has a lump or wart or something pea sized under her chin and to the left a little bit. It does not appear tender and I have a hard time seeing it through the fur. It does not appea to have chnged in size in the past few days. Any ideas on what this could be?

It's probably a little cyst type of thing. You'll probably want to get that checked at the vet, as they can be little furry cancer growth thingies - no fret though, they can remove them! Let me know what you find out, k?

I started with some arm and hammer stuff. I used it once before when i had a kitten for a while and it seemed WAY better than any of that crap with "flavor crystals" in it.
Now though I've just switched to this stuff called "The Best Litter In The World" because it was the only flushable kind I could find. Kitten took the switch just fine. Not really any less smelly. Less dusty though.. and now my trash can isn't all disgusting.

All right next time i go to the store I'll pick up some of the Purina Pro Plan. For how long should I feed him the Pro Plan? Forever? Also, if you don't mind and since I am curious, what about it is better?

thanks!

Most people really like the world's best cat litter. For smell control, I've been really pleased with Tidy Cats for multiple cats. But it definitely isn't flushable! You can flush the world's best cat litter, but it isn't recommend if you're on a sceptic tank system.

Yes, as long as he's doing well on the Pro Plan, you can keep him on it forever. Use the kitten formula up to 8 months old and then switch over to the adult.

Comparing the two products, check out these two links:

Purina One - http://www.purinaone.com/Products/Produc...
Purina Pro Plan - http://www.proplan.com/products/ChickenR...

It looks like the Pro Plan has a little more protein, a little more fat (only like 1% more in both cases). That's why I just feed mine Purina One. It is easier to get where I live, and the difference in quality isn't significant, in my opinion happy

And you're very welcome! Hope some of this helps!
