» dmerriner - Praying cat I have a kitten who was a single birth to a rescued female. When the mother was rescued we didn't know she was pregnant and suprised when she gave birth to a single kitten. Is this common for this breed? Though the mother is a silver long haired cat, the kitten has all the markings of a seal-tipped birman. She is beautiful-her odd behavior is she sits on her hind legs and holds her paws together like she is praying. I have had cats over the years and her personality is by far the most interesting and interactive. Has anyone else experienced the same type of behavior? -- posted by dmerriner » ThatCrazyCatLady - Praying cat In response to Praying cat posted by dmerriner:
It IS common for kitties, especially purebred are purebred mixes to have small litters. An average for most cats is 2-4, so it's always surprising when you see big litters of 7 or 8. The younger (or older) they are, the smaller the litters are, too. Cats between 2 and 4 will have larger litters than cats a year old or younger or 5 years or older. Hope that helps. I'm interested to see what I can find on the Birmans! -- posted by ThatCrazyCatLady » ThatCrazyCatLady - Praying cat In response to Praying cat posted by dmerriner:
