This is my first time with kittens, and I have no idea what I'm doing. I've moved them from their original box to a larger "home" and they're trying to escape. Do I need to contain them at this age, and if so, how do I do it? Any help is appreciated!

In response to kittens posted by bruceaholic: Oh, you're at their most wonderful time! They will definitely be trying to escape and explore anything and everything they can get to! LOL I would confine them to one room at first and then next week, let them out in the livingroom (they'll be using the litterbox by this point) and let them play underfoot while they can be supervised.
This article will help a lot: http://cats.suite101.com/article.cfm/rai... Feel free to give me a yell if you have any questions at all! And have fun with the babies!

In response to kittens posted by ThatCrazyCatLady: Thank you so much Darlene! They are adorable. We let them out of "jail" for a little bit today - they're in the basement. Next week I think we'll bring them upstairs and let them explore a bit up here.

i found 5 stray kittens...three have no hair on the tips of their tails..and some bone is showing..what is this? I wondered if something had been chewing on their tails or if this is a nutritional thing. thanks

In response to stray kittens posted by azzy: Well, that certainly isn't a good thing, poor babies! It could be that someone else has chewed on them, or they could have been starving and chewing on each other, or they could have parasites making them chew on themselves. I'd get one in to the vet to make sure it isn't parasitic and/or infected, and they'll give you enough meds to treat the whole litter, I'm sure. I'd definitely feed them as high quality kitten food as I could afford, too, and get some antibiotic ointment on their tails until you can get in to the vet.
Good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions at all!
