» balihai_red - Kitties

Good Morning!
Just a note to say that CeCe and family are just fine. I've had her on kitten food for quite awhile now and she gets her vitamin in her canned food every day. She is very sassy and bouncy this morning! Just talking to me about everything! Amigo(The Rat Terrier) checks on them regularly...How funny he licks little butts like they are his! Got some real lookers! One little female is pure white with 2 little gray spots. 2 look like the old time Russian Blues. They even have blue feet. Gotta run, my boys and Mamaw cat is going to see the vet this morning Hee Hee!
Here is a Pic of my little boy!

Ah, the morning vet trip - bet the boys will be SO pleased to find out where they're heading! LOL Amigo must be priceless with the kitties! And what great colors - my sis-in-law has a Russian Blue that she rescued as a kitten and has had forever. It's been a wonderful family cat!

Y'all have a wonderful day!

Oh my goodness, Amigo is SO handsome! I've got a friend who had one puppy that was 1/2 rat terrier and half jack russel terrier and just went and got 2 more rat terrier puppies - they LOVE them! With Amigo's temperament with the kittens, I can see why!

» balihai_red - Good Weekend

Been pretty busy with my patients. All are doing well I am happy to report. My bobtail cat, Angus, turned out to be the biggest bounce back. The Vet let me bring all them home on Wednesday evening. Can't beat Same Day Service. LOL Angus was up and eating about 6 pm. Amazing. He wasn't tipsy or anything. Arguyle my other bobtail, was until yesterday morning before he could walk good. My hubby said that is the difference between an Irishman and a Scotsman. The Irishman(Angus) can hold his liquor better! He is so funny! As for CeCe and the kittens...So far so good. I ran into a lady that owns a petshop and she wants the kittens at Christmas. They'll be ready. So now all I have to do is find homes for the 6 I have running around now! LOL

Hope you have a good Weekend!

Peace

Joyce

Congratulations on the new baby! At 6 weeks old, your baby can start eating crunchy kitten food just fine, and it will be good for his teeth. If you're going to keep him inside, go ahead and put a litter box up for him. For fleas, you can really only give him baths and use the flea comb until he's 8 weeks old, and then you can put Frontline on him. When you give him a bath, you can put just a couple drops of Dawn dish detergent in with his shampoo, and that will help kill any fleas that might be on him.

Since he was outside, and he has had fleas, he will probably have both roundworm and tapeworm. He'll also need a vaccination between 6 and 8 weeks old. So you'll definitely want to take him in to the vet as soon as you can. Since he hasn't had a mommy, the vet will probably go ahead and give him a vaccination because he won't have much built up immunity.

» ashia16 - New kitten

I rescued a kitten 3 days ago. She is finally eating well and going urinating, but she has yet to go poo. Iam worried this might hurt her. The vet said to use a warm cloth and stimulate the bum but this is not working. Im hoping to find other ideas to help. Im worried.

In response to New kitten posted by ashia16:

How old is she? Was she rescued from outside or from an agency? I wonder if she'd been eating very well. Yogurt will actually work the same for both diarrhea and constipation. Canned food or milk (use kitten milk replacer to be easier on her tummy) might also make her go, but you don't want to give her much or change her diet too abruptly, so anything you give her, just give her teensy amounts a couple of times a day.

If this doesn't help her go, and stimulating her bottom doesn't have any effects, you could try soaking her from the tummy down in a warm sink of water for just a couple of minutes.

I hope she has some movement soon, poor girl. If she didn't by in the morning, I'd probably want the vet's opinion on that, so give him a call. I'm assuming she was wormed at the vet's office, and this will also typically make them potty. So she should use the litter box soon!

Good luck!
