CatsCat Litter Varieties
» ThatCrazyCatLady - Different kinds of cat litter... Hello everyone! I am Darlene, and I am going to be the Feature Writer of Cats. There is a new article in Cats written by Maureen on the different types of cat litter... http://cat-care.suite101.com/article.cfm... I thought it would be great to start a discussion on Maureen's article in case any of you have any questions about any of the different types of litter. I've tried almost everything except for that cool self-cleaning box. I personally prefer the clumpable litters, especially the ones for multiple kitties. One special note that many of you may not know is that if you have a kitten under 6 months old, you'll want to just stick to the regular clay litter until they mature a bit. -- posted by ThatCrazyCatLady » ThatCrazyCatLady - Kitty Litter Poll... Looks like I have some more testing to do :-) Though mine is working well, why not use the best you can?! Thanks so much for visiting us here at Suite!!! -- posted by ThatCrazyCatLady » charladawson - Kitty Litter Poll... In response to Kitty Litter Poll... posted by ThatCrazyCatLady:My most favorite is Feline Pine. It smells good, can't smell the cat stuff at all. Scoop out the solids and when it turns to saw dust you can use it to mulch the garden. Love it!! Charla -- posted by charladawson » hoosierbug - KItty Litter Poll I have always used Tidy Cats for multiple cats. When I was doing some rescue, I found it worked the best for me. Now, I only currently have one cat but still use it because I like the way the room smells after the kitty gets through doing his thing. -- posted by hoosierbug » ThatCrazyCatLady - Feline Pine Cat Litter In response to Kitty Litter Poll... posted by charladawson:
And you can use it for mulch afterwards? That's sure a plus! Pam, I'd use the multiple cats version even if I only had 1 cat, too - seems crazy to not use what works even better, especially since there isn't a price difference between the original and the multiple cat. I thought I was pretty set on what kitty litter brand to use, but I'm going to have to give these new types of litter a try. I'd imagine the price difference is made up for in performance - we'll see Y'all have a great day! -- posted by ThatCrazyCatLady » charladawson - Feline Pine Cat Litter In response to Feline Pine Cat Litter posted by ThatCrazyCatLady:Darlene - I have been super fortunate to have owned cats my whole life and never have a litter box issue (knock on wood). The manufacturer recommends mixing Feline Pine with the old litter so that the change over process is slow. My cats did great with switching litter. A friend of mine wasn't so fortunate, her cats wouldn't use it but I don't know that she mixed her litters in the beginning like recommended. But I love the stuff and refuse to use anything else. By the way, I tried the electric self-cleaning litter box and hated it. It is super loud and even the premium litters stick to the blades and causes problems. I constantly (at least daily) had to clean the blades off. I'm going to have to do a blog or article on all the different types of boxes I've tried, too! My experience says avoid the new fangled thingies and stick with a plain ol' covered box... maybe add one of the ramps that catches the litter from their feet when they step out. I use different types of boxes for different ages of kitty, though. I guess the ones that are catching rain on the back deck are the ones I wasn't pleased with LOL Thanks for dropping by! I'm definitely going to try the feline pine - doesn't sound like too much trouble to get them to adjust to it! -- posted by ThatCrazyCatLady
