We’ve been without a dog in our home for over a year now, and we finally decided to take the plunge and try out a new puppy. Call me crazy! Maybe I just couldn’t take all the peace and quiet of it just being my kitties and myself in the house. Maybe the universe was urging me to get more exercise every day and thought housetraining a puppy would get me away from the computer for a bit. Whatever it was, we now have a 12-week old St. Bernard puppy named Layla.
We had tried a new puppy last year, a little Goldendoodle (½ Golden Retriever and ½ Poodle), but that poor little puppy was just so hyper. He romped all over the cat’s heads, chased them behind the sofa, and just made their life miserable until we found him another home. So we really wanted to make sure we got the right breed this time!
Thankfully, Layla’s temperament wholly consists of naps and kisses! Very much like my Himalayans and Persians! It only took two days for everyone to adjust very well to each other, and though they aren’t cuddled up on the hearth together just yet, everyone has accepted each other. Hooch (our red tabby Persian) even plays with Layla’s tail!
