As spring begins sprouting up all around us, I am always in a panic over the destruction my cats are doing to my new plants. I have tried all kinds of different things to keep my cats out of my big potted plants, from covering the top of the dirt with aluminum foil to sticking pieces of bamboo up all throughout the plant. I've even gathered pine cones and put them all over the top of the dirt. What it all boils down to is, they are cats, and they’re going to do whatever they want to, wherever they want to! That’s part of a kitty’s charm, after all!
So every year, as I mourn some poor little plant that I had started from seed, I vow to do the only thing possible – start my cats their own garden! It has to be the best kitty garden in the world, so completely irresistible to cats that MY garden just fails in comparison. Then the cats will surely take their naps in their catnip patch rather than right in the middle of my fragile little geraniums.
Knowing there are others of you out there who love their kitties AND their gardens, I wanted to share this great article that will help you get started on your own cat themed garden. This might also be a great way for cat allergy sufferers to bring a little feline energy into your world without actually getting a cat!
