Cat Treats

Are Cat Treats Empty Calories or Are There Benefits?

Do you give your cat treats? What are your favorites? Do you choose treats that have benefits for you and your feline friend?

I have always been against giving kitties treats. I know, that sounds like I’m a terrible kitty mom, but really, I thought it was best for my cat. I was afraid that cat treats only added unnecessary calories to my cat’s diet and that they were the cause of bad breath with a lot of kitties.

Recently, I decided to give treats another try. I’d been reading ingredients lists on the back of the treat bags and figured that “Crunchy with Tartar & Plaque Control” must be a good thing! And, my Buttercup had terrible stinky breath and likes to kiss me in the face.

I tried several different types of treats from soft to crunchy, with mixed reviews from the kitties. I couldn’t seem to find something that everyone enjoyed that also had the benefits I was looking for, tartar and plaque control. I was also looking at higher priced kitty treats because I thought they “must” be better than the less expensive treats.

Not true. About a month ago, we tried a couple bags of Pounce. They’re less than $2 a bag, the bags are re-sealable, and they’re crunchy and good for tartar and plaque control. We started out with the 3-cheese flavor, which was an immediate hit! Even Hooch, who won’t even eat canned food or tuna, loved these! This week, we tried the catnip flavor, and they liked it even better.

So if you’re looking for a great tasting, beneficial cat treat, my kitties recommend Pounce. If you have a favorite kitty treat, please stop by the discussion area and share! (And yes, now Buttercup is much more kissable!)
