When you purchase a kitten that is registered through the Cat Fanciers Association, you will receive a blue slip from the breeder that you fill out and mail in to the CFA along with the registration fee. You should only have to complete sections A and C. The CFA will have completed section B for you, and the breeder completes section D.
In Section A, you will be given the choice of two names for your kitten. Each name choice can be 35 characters long. It is important to include the second name choice, as there have been times a registration application was returned because the name choice already existed. Section C should be filled in with your own name and address.
If you are buying the kitten for breeding purposes, a PIN must be in the red box. If the breeder does not put a PIN in the box, the cat will not be registered with breeding rights, and her litters can’t be registered.
